Working With Children in Brazil

Coronavirus (COVID-19) impact on World Vision operations

In support of public health recommendations outlined by the World Health Organization, some sponsorship program activities have been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19. Activities may include sponsor queries and correspondence, sponsor visits, gift notifications and gift deliveries. These temporary suspensions may affect the information you receive from us in the coming weeks and months. Learn more about our response to COVID-19.
For more than 40 years we have been helping the most vulnerable children in Brazil access education, health care and skills-building social programs. The stress caused by the Zika virus recently is an added burden for families in the communities we serve, who already suffer the effects of poverty and widespread crime and violence.

Brazil has the second largest number of murders of children under 19 in the world. Together with our Brazilian communities, we are working hard to change the culture of violence through child protection campaigns, youth advocacy groups and extracurricular programs that encourage kids to stay in school and off the street.
