Working with children in Chad

Coronavirus (COVID-19) impact on World Vision operations

In support of public health recommendations outlined by the World Health Organization, some sponsorship program activities have been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19. Activities may include sponsor queries and correspondence, sponsor visits, gift notifications and gift deliveries. These temporary suspensions may affect the information you receive from us in the coming weeks and months. Learn more about our response to COVID-19.
Sitting in the heart of sub-Saharan Africa, years of drought, famine and war in Chad have led to an isolated economy, poor education and health care, and a dependence on foreign aid. Early marriage is widespread—nearly 70 per cent of girls marry before age 18. Child brides often drop out of school and face life-threatening complications from bearing children before their bodies are ready.

World Vision is working to help communities acquire skills and resources to build a better future for children in Chad. We address early marriage and other child protection challenges by forming children’s clubs to promote child rights and establishing networks that monitor child abuse cases.
