Working With Children in Mexico

Coronavirus (COVID-19) impact on World Vision operations

In support of public health recommendations outlined by the World Health Organization, some sponsorship program activities have been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19. Activities may include sponsor queries and correspondence, sponsor visits, gift notifications and gift deliveries. These temporary suspensions may affect the information you receive from us in the coming weeks and months. Learn more about our response to COVID-19.
Recently World Vision reported that, in some states, the malnutrition levels of children in Mexico was as high as 36.4 per cent. Limited access to clean water is a major cause of malnutrition because of the relationship between health and nutrition—as when sick children lose their appetite or their capacity to absorb nutrients. We address this issue by providing rainwater collection tanks, improving sanitation and infrastructure and promoting nutritious vegetable gardens.

Mexico has progressive child rights laws in place but implementation is always a challenge. We work to empower children and youths networks, giving them a voice to influence decisions at community, state and national levels.
