Working With Children in India

Coronavirus (COVID-19) impact on World Vision operations

In support of public health recommendations outlined by the World Health Organization, some sponsorship program activities have been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19. Activities may include sponsor queries and correspondence, sponsor visits, gift notifications and gift deliveries. These temporary suspensions may affect the information you receive from us in the coming weeks and months. Learn more about our response to COVID-19.
With one fifth of India’s population living below the poverty line, many children in the country drop out of school to work or marry early. We work with communities to set up Child Protection Units—teams of citizens trained in child rights who advocate for vulnerable kids and help them stay in school. They also work to prevent trafficking, help find missing children and assist children who have been abused.

Other priorities for World Vision India include child health, formal and informal education and the economic empowerment of families. We work with community leaders and government authorities to develop interventions that will be most likely to succeed. Today, World Vision India is impacting more than 26 million children in over 6,000 communities.
